How we keep our reviews honest

Our editorial scoring methodology is published in full on our methodology page. Scores are based on objective criteria — pricing data, contract terms, customer review aggregates, BBB ratings, and our own testing. A company cannot pay to raise its score.

We do allow companies to sponsor specific badges (such as "Best for Renters" or "Best DIY Install") when they're a genuine fit for that category. These placements are clearly marked. The underlying numerical score, ranking position based on score, and editorial commentary are never for sale.
